Thinking of building your own?

I build high-end Catios, but I understand the DIY spirit. If you want to tackle this project yourself, here are a few professional tips to help you get started:

  • Think Vertically: Don't just look at the floor space. Cats care about the total cubic area and climbing heights.
  • Tool Up: You'll need more than just hand tools. A miter saw, table saw, and multiple drill guns will save you hours of frustration.
  • Material Choice: Use treated wood to fight rot and a 2"x2" wire for the best balance of safety and visibility.
  • Sun Protection: Use a good paint or pigmented stain. It keeps the Texas sun off the wood and keeps the Catio looking nicer, longer.

A Note from Todd

"I have over 40 years of experience building everything from houses to Florida-style enclosures. I’ve seen many people start a Catio only to realize they didn't have the tools or the skill set to finish it safely."

If you find yourself stuck, or just want it done right the first time, I'm here to help. I love cats and I enjoy what I do—I'll make sure your feline friends get the dream home they deserve.
