Why did I even go into the business? I will tell you. I built a catio, not knowing what they were to help a friend that had 4 cats 2 of which were 19 years old to get outside. She had told me about how they always wanted to go out. So I built this small catio nothing fancy not even stained or painted. I was on a rental property. And oooooo what a difference it made for her and the cats.
I soon realized this was an area that cat people needed help with. I set out on a journey that I would have never thought of in the beginning.
After doing my research I found that there was basically nothing out there for people. I found some cheap crap that you can by on Amazon. I found that people wanted better things for cats and wanted their cats to be safe. There were a few people on the west coast that made them down in Austin. But nothing here. Everyone in our area was stuck.

I had a feral cat I was feeding, and a raccoon decided it wanted the food more and killed the cat. It was a big tom cat also. I could not believe it had lost. You don’t want this to happen to you. It is terrible.

My daughter lost a pet before. And it breaks your heart to see it. Kids get upset and they don’t just forget about it for a long time. I can tell you with her the eyes filled lakes with tear water. I cannot tell you how bad I felt for her. Kids take losing something like the way we feel. I know I have wanted to cry when I have lost an animal. Ok, I did. Besides the point. But not knowing if you will ever find it is horrible. I have lived it. I see all the little signs out with photos of family pets that are lost. I feel for them.
I do not want to get into the fact of finding them in the street. This I have not had personally but have been around it. I had a friend with a dog. It was my favorite dog in the world, and it got hit. I was not there, but the man’s child saw it and was devastated. In my life, I have seen many cats on the road.
Getting into fights. Cats do this. Depending on what the cats are fighting over, I feel the pain they put on others. But the thing is cats in the wild must protect what they have. They are in tuned with the surroundings and know them. A little house cat that has been inside does not have much of a chance up against them. They will be hurt or killed. Either way, it sucks. And stitches and x-rays and follow-up visits are not cheap. I have known people’s cats that like to look for trouble. This gets costly fast.
